Privacy Policy
Short version: Selectrum has no accounts and no servers of its own. It does not collect your personal data, and it does not know your keys, balances or transactions.
1. Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy describes how Aba Network, Inc. collects, uses, and protects your data when using the Selectrum application for macOS (“the app”) and this website (“the site”). “We” means Aba Network, Inc.
2. What we collect
Nothing. The app has no sign-up, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no crash reporting and no telemetry. We do not operate a backend that receives data from the app, so there is nothing for us to sell, share or leak.
3. What stays on your computer
- Wallet file — your seed phrase or keys, labels, payment requests, invoices and a cache of transactions, in the app’s folder. It is encrypted with your password unless you chose an empty one.
- Settings — language, units, currency, explorer, server and proxy choices, stored by macOS for the app.
- Lightning node data — channel state and keys derived from your seed, in the app’s folder.
- Proxy password — in the macOS Keychain, if you use an authenticated proxy.
- No activity log — the app does not keep a diagnostic log of what you do.
You can remove the wallet and node data at any time from Settings → Wallet, or by deleting the app’s folder.
4. Connections the app makes
To work, the app talks directly to third-party services. We do not sit between you and them. Each service sees what any client of that service would send, in particular your IP address, unless you use a proxy.
| Service | Why | What it can learn |
|---|---|---|
| Electrum servers | Blockchain history, fees, broadcasting | Hashes of your addresses, your IP address, transactions you broadcast |
| Exchange-rate provider you select | Fiat values | The currency requested and your IP address. Providers: Blockchain.info (default), Coinbase, Kraken, BitPay, Bitstamp, Bitfinex, CoinGecko, Yadio |
| Historical rates (optional) | Fiat value at the time of each transaction | The currency and date range, your IP address. Off by default |
| Lightning gossip snapshot | Network graph for the Lightning node | Your IP address. Not used when a proxy is enabled |
| Lightning peers | Opening and keeping channels | Your node ID and IP address, as the Lightning protocol requires |
| Block explorer | Only when you open a transaction link | The transaction ID and your IP address, in your browser |
These services have their own privacy policies. You can change the server, the rate provider and the explorer, or route traffic through Tor or another proxy, in the app’s settings.
5. Permissions
The app runs in the macOS App Sandbox. It asks for outgoing network access (to reach the services above), a local loopback listener (a bridge that lets the Lightning node use your proxy), and read/write access to files you choose in an open or save dialog.
6. This website
The site is static. It sets no cookies, includes no analytics, and loads no scripts, fonts or images from other domains. Whoever hosts the site may keep ordinary server logs (such as IP address and requested page) under their own policy.
7. Children
Selectrum is a financial tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone.
8. Security
Security measures are described on the Security page, together with their limits. No software is perfectly secure; you are responsible for the safety of your seed phrase, password and computer.
9. Changes
If the app starts to handle data differently, we will update this page and the date above before the change reaches you.
